We are excited about the ISO Plain Language Standard launch. This step towards a global, supported, standard is important for all of  us in the profession—learners, teachers, practitioners, and advocates.

The International Plain Language Federation uses this definition for their upcoming ISO standard document.

"A communication is in plain language if its wording, structure, and design are so clear that:

• it provides the intended readers with what they want, 
• ensures they can quickly find what they need,
• helps them easily understand what they find, and
• can effectively be used."

It's at the heart of PLA training.
